Change your look without rebuilding your agent

You spent an afternoon teaching your agent your hours, your prices and your answers. Now you want it to look different. Do you have to start again?
Mostly, no. A NetShow agent keeps what it is and how it looks in separate places. This post walks through what you can change on your own today, what changes by itself, and the one thing that is not a button yet. The steps come from our help guides, so you can follow along on your own screen.
Two kinds of look, stored apart
Our change how it looks guide starts with a useful split. An agent has two different looks:
- Its face. This is the living presence. It is what renders on the agent's own page and wherever it appears alive.
- Its picture. This is the still image on cards and lists, the way an avatar works anywhere else.
They are stored separately, and they are changed in different places. Neither one is the agent itself. The agent is what it knows, how it speaks and the rules it follows.
What you can change today, with no rebuild
Open your dashboard, pick your agent and choose Edit. That one screen covers most changes.
The picture. Find the Image Selection section and its Generate Agent's New Image panel. It lets you choose an image provider and set details such as expression, attire and pose. The new still is what shows on your agent's card. It is not the living face, and changing it does not change the presence tier.
The name and the rules. The same Edit screen is where the rest of the agent is tuned: its guardrails (allowed and blocked topics, custom rules), its tools, its skills, and its saved questions and responses.
The voice. Open the agent editor from your agents list with the wand button titled Unified Editor. Choose Channels, then the Realtime tab. The menu called Realtime Voice is the voice your agent speaks with. Pick one and press Save. Then press Talk at the top of the editor and listen to one sentence. Our voice guide has the details.
What it knows. In the same editor, the Knowledge tab opens on Knowledge Base. The Knowledge Text box holds what your agent answers from. Edit it whenever your business changes.
None of these ask you to create a new agent. You change one thing, press Save, and the rest stays put.
The look your visitors see already changes by itself
Here is the part many owners do not expect. The face your visitor sees is not fixed to one drawing. It adapts to their device.
Your agent's face is drawn by the visitor's own browser, not streamed from a server. So NetShow matches the drawing to the device:
- A slow phone gets a light text face that still talks.
- A middling phone or laptop gets a face drawn in ink.
- A strong computer, like a recent Mac, gets the full 3D face.
It is the same avatar on every device. The looks page says it simply: your phone picks the fastest look it can run. You do not rebuild anything for phones, and you do not keep a second agent for laptops.
On our own pages you can see the same idea from the visitor's side. The host's Avatar menu keeps Look, Voice and Thinking as separate rows. A look picked there is a choice for that visit only. It changes nothing the owner saved.
The one thing that is not a button yet
We would rather tell you now than have you hunt for it. Our help guide says it plainly: swapping an existing agent's face or presence tier is not something you can do from your own dashboard today.
The groundwork is built. Profiles are versioned, versions only grow, and moving which one is current never overwrites the old one. Today, though, the only screen that drives it is an internal Mission Control console.
So the honest advice is simple. Choose the face with care when you create the agent. Both lanes at that step preview live and cost nothing, so there is no reason to rush. If you have already created an agent and want a different face, the practical route today is to create a second agent with the face you want.
FAQ
Will a new picture change my agent's living face?
No. The picture is the still on cards and lists. Changing it does not change the living face or the presence tier.
Can I change my agent's voice after I create it?
Yes. In the Unified Editor, open Channels, then Realtime, pick a Realtime Voice and press Save.
Can I swap the living face of an agent I already made?
Not from your own dashboard today. The practical route is a second agent with the face you want, so choose with care at creation.
Will visitors on phones see a different face than visitors on laptops?
They may. A slow phone gets a light text face that still talks, and a strong computer gets the full 3D face. It is the same avatar either way.
Pick your look before you build
The best time to choose a face is before you create your agent. The looks page shows all eight looks side by side with their names and one line each. Tap a look to see the host wear it, or open its Try it link in a new tab. Try the ones you like on your own phone and on a laptop. Pick the look that feels like your business. Then create your agent once, and change its picture, voice, rules and knowledge as often as you like.
