Eight looks, one voice

Two people visit your website at the same moment. One is on an old phone on a bus. The other is at a new laptop at work. They will not see the same drawing of your agent. They will hear the same voice, and they will get the same answers.
That is the promise of our looks page: one face, eight looks, and one voice behind them. This post explains what changes from device to device, and what never does.
Why the face changes
A NetShow face is drawn by your visitor's own browser. It is not streamed from a server. That keeps the face free of any per-minute meter, and it means the drawing has to suit the device. So NetShow matches it:
- A slow phone gets a light text face that still talks.
- A middling phone or laptop gets a face drawn in ink.
- A strong computer, like a recent Mac, gets the full 3D face.
The looks page puts it in one line: your phone picks the fastest look it can run. It is the same avatar meeting every visitor, on whatever they have in hand. Only the drawing adapts.
What stays the same: the voice
Your agent's voice belongs to the agent, not to the face. You set it once in the agent editor. Open Channels, then the Realtime tab, and choose from the menu called Realtime Voice. That is the voice your agent speaks with in a spoken conversation. Press Save, then press Talk at the top of the editor to hear it.
From then on, every face your agent wears speaks with that voice. The light text face on a slow phone and the full 3D face on a strong computer sound the same.
A few facts about the voices, from the looks page:
- The NetShow voice is included with every avatar.
- GPT Live is the premium voice, with a daily cap you set.
- Never a robotic browser voice for your brand. Every voice goes through NetShow's own voice connection, never your browser's built-in voice.
What stays the same: what it knows
Your agent answers from what you teach it: your services, your hours, your answers. That knowledge lives in the agent editor, in the Knowledge Text box on the Knowledge tab. It does not live in the face.
So you teach your agent once. You do not write one set of answers for phones and another for laptops. Every visitor asks the same agent, and every visitor gets answers from the same source. It greets each visitor, answers from what you taught it, and walks them to the next step you choose.
What stays the same: how it starts
A NetShow face is built to talk, and it speaks first. The hello is there before your visitor types a word.
Browsers keep a page silent until the visitor taps or presses a key. So the greeting is spoken out loud from their first tap. After that, the conversation is theirs to lead:
- The microphone opens only when a visitor presses Talk.
- The browser asks for microphone permission first.
- Nothing they say is heard until they allow it.
A visitor who says no, or who has no microphone or speaker, can type to the agent instead. The voice and the answers stay the same.
These rules hold on every device and under every look. A visitor on a slow phone gets the same careful start as a visitor on a strong computer.
What this means for you
You choose a look for your brand. You set one voice and teach one agent. After that, each visitor's device picks the fastest face it can draw, and nothing else about your agent changes.
That keeps your work small. There is one voice to test and one set of answers to keep fresh. There is one welcome line to write.
FAQ
Does the voice change when a phone shows the lighter face?
No. The voice is set on the agent in Realtime Voice, so every face your agent wears speaks with it.
Do I have to teach each look separately?
No. Your agent answers from its Knowledge Text, which lives in the agent editor, not in the face. Teach it once.
Does the avatar listen all the time?
No. The microphone opens only when a visitor presses Talk, and the browser asks for permission first.
Which voice will my visitors hear?
The NetShow voice is included with every avatar. GPT Live is the premium voice, with a daily cap.
Hear one voice behind every face
The looks page shows all eight looks side by side, with the voice they share. Tap a look to see the host wear it, or open its Try it full screen link in a new tab. Then scroll to the voices and read how they work. Try the page on your phone and again on a laptop. The drawing may change between the two. The voice behind it, and the answers it gives, will not. When you are ready, pick the look that fits your business and give it one voice.
