Give your agent a voice that fits your business

Hosted by Mr. NetShow
Think about the last time you called a business and liked it before anyone solved anything. It was probably the voice. Calm, quick, warm, sure of itself. You decided in a sentence whether you trusted the place.
A NetShow agent is built to talk. It has a voice of its own, and it can open the conversation with a first line you write. So its voice is not a setting you pick once and forget. It is a brand decision, as real as your sign or your logo. This post shows where the Studio lets you make that decision, and how to make it well.
Why the voice comes first
On your website, a NetShow agent can speak first. With that switched on for your site, it greets visitors as the page opens, out loud where the browser allows. Before a visitor reads a word of your page, they have heard you.
That makes the voice your front door. A dental office and a skate shop should not sound the same at the door. Neither should a law firm and a bakery. The right voice tells a stranger what kind of place this is, before the first answer lands.
Where the voice is chosen
You meet the choice twice.
The first time is while you create the agent. A free account opens the Studio, where you name your agent, teach it your business, and pick its face and voice. In the creation flow, the voice is a short list of named voices. The one you choose is bound to the agent right then, as part of its presence.
The second time is any day after that. Open the agent editor from your agents list, using the wand button titled Unified Editor. Choose the second row of tabs, Channels, and open Realtime. Under Realtime Model & Voice there is a menu called Realtime Voice. That is the voice your agent speaks with. Pick one and press Save.
There is also a Voice tab next to it, with its own menus. The spoken voice is read from Realtime Voice, so that is the one to change. Our guide give it a voice that speaks first has every button.
Match the voice to the room
There is no correct voice, only a fitting one. Three questions help.
Who walks in? Picture your usual first-time customer. A worried parent wants calm. A contractor on a job site wants quick. A shopper browsing late wants friendly and unhurried.
What do they need first? If most visitors want a booking, pick a voice that sounds organised. If they come with a problem, pick one that sounds patient.
Does it match everything else? Your photos, your colours and your own way of talking already say something. The voice should say the same thing, not argue with it.
Then choose, and do not agonise. You can change it on the Realtime tab whenever you like.
Write the first line in the same voice
A voice with nothing to say is only half a decision. An agent that waits in silence feels like an empty shop.
Go to the first row of tabs, Who Is Your Agent, and open Personality. Turn on Enable Welcome Message. The page describes it exactly: "Automatically send a greeting when a user starts a session." Write the line in the Welcome Message box and press Save.
A good first line is short. It says who is talking and asks one easy question. Keep it to one or two sentences, because a visitor decides in seconds whether to answer. Write it in the same register as the voice. A calm voice reading a loud, exclamation-heavy line sounds wrong, and people notice.
Hear it before a visitor does
At the top of the editor, the Talk button opens a spoken conversation with your agent. Use it after every change. One sentence tells you more than any description of a voice can.
Listen for two things: does it sound like your business, and does the first line sound natural in that voice? If either feels off, change one thing and listen again.
The visitor's microphone stays theirs
Speaking to your agent is always the visitor's choice. The microphone opens only when the visitor taps Talk. The browser asks for permission first, and nothing they say is heard until they allow it. A visitor who says no can type to the agent instead.
FAQ
Can I change the voice after my agent is created?
Yes. Open the agent editor, choose Channels, then Realtime, and pick a new Realtime Voice. Press Save, then use Talk to hear it.
Which voice setting does my agent actually use?
The spoken voice is read from Realtime Voice on the Realtime tab. When a voice sounds wrong, check that tab first.
How long should the first line be?
One or two sentences. Say who is talking and ask one easy question. A long opening gets talked over.
Does my agent hear visitors before they agree?
No. The microphone opens only when a visitor taps Talk, and the browser asks for permission first.
Your next step
Choosing a voice takes a few minutes, and hearing it takes seconds. Open the Studio and meet a living agent first. Listen to how its voice and its first line set the mood before any question is answered. Then picture your own front door and the stranger who walks through it.
When you are ready, a free account takes you to the five short creation steps, and the voice is one of them. Your agent stays private while you listen, change and listen again. Nobody hears it until you publish it.
